BREAKING NEWS; Newcastle United head coach has just announce his retirement regraded to….

In a development that won’t surprise many Toon supporters, Florian Plettenberg of Sky Germany writes that speculation about a £40 million transfer to Tyneside is “wide of the mark,” as the former Arsenal winger has no plans to leave Bayern Munich this summer, even in the face of “interest” from Newcastle.

The connection, which surfaced via The Mirror on Sunday, never appeared very plausible given his advanced age, history of recent injuries, and enormous wage demands.

Newcastle United appears to be keeping an eye on another Leeds United prodigy this summer. Following numerous connections with Crysencio Summerville during the transfer window, Wilfried Gnonto is the next player to be connected with Federico Gatti, another Italian.

According to a questionable “exclusive” from TEAMtalk, Newcastle is reportedly in the running with Everton for Gnonto, who is rumored to be available for about £25 million after Leeds was unable to secure promotion back to the Premier League.

The 20-year-old, who has 13 Italy caps, scored nine goals in 26 games during the previous campaign. He’s a talented attacker who can play down either flank and is adaptable, but after our recent failure to attract players like Michael Olise, I want us to set higher goals.Unless, considering Minteh’s transfer to Brighton and the likelihood of Almiron’s sale, we intend to sign two right-wingers?

Speaking of Italians connected to the Toon, Tuttosport reports that Federico Gatti, the center back for Juventus, is being closely inspected by three Premier League clubs, including Newcastle.

According to the Italian newspaper, Newcastle is the “most interested” of the three teams; however, it is not yet known if the player would be open to moving to St. James’ Park for the summer. Like Gnonto, though, I’m not sure if we’re actually pursuing this option as the last six weeks of the summer window draw near.
