Hot rod! Sir Rod Stewart’s treasured Lamborghini Countach is up for grabs with incredible reserve price

The iconic 80s supercar was owned by the legendary singer for more than 25 years.

Sir Rod Stewart’s beloved classic Lamborghini has hit the market with a hefty price tag of £400,000.

The iconic Countach LP400 Periscopio, a treasured piece of the singer’s car collection, was under his care for more than two decades.

Sir Rod originally snapped up the supercar back in 1977 during an Australian tour, and it quickly became a symbol of 80s luxury, capable of speeds up to 183mph.

The ‘Maggie May’ crooner had the vehicle shipped to his LA pad, where he added his personal touch with new spoilers, a wide-body kit, and a modified roof featuring removable panels. After accompanying the rock legend back to Blighty, the pair parted ways in 2002, as Luxury Auto News reports.

Under the bonnet lies a roaring 3.9-litre V12 engine, complete with a twin-distributor ignition and six Weber carburettors, ensuring this classic isn’t just a looker but a beast on the road.

Currently up for grabs at Bring a Trailer, a spokesperson from the auction house remarked: “This 1977 Lamborghini Countach LP400 is one of approximately 150 Periscopio examples manufactured during the first four years of the Countach model’s production.”

“It left the factory in right-hand-drive configuration and was purchased new by best-selling British pop musician Sir Rod Stewart while on tour in Australia.”

“The car later moved with Stewart to Los Angeles, where it was modified with a wide-body kit and a targa-style roof panel before being relocated to the UK and remaining in Stewart’s private collection until 2002.”
