Despite a strong first season, Diaby is expected to be moving again this summer as Al Ittihad is reportedly nearing a deal. As a result, Diaby was absent from Villa’s 3-0 victory over Walsall in their preseason opener on Wednesday.
Transfer specialist Fabrizio Romano claims that Diaby is getting close to making a “big-money move” to Al Ittihad. The player may have already arrived at the club for his physical, according to sources in Saudi Arabia.
Like Newcastle, the Saudi Arabian Public Investment Fund owns the majority of Al Ittihad. The Magpies played a friendly match against the Jeddah-based team in January 2022. That season, the team placed fifth in the Saudi Pro League.
