Just In: Newcastle could be in for a horror summer should they lose key assets

Eddie Howe gets England offer, Alexander Isak joins Arsenal – Newcastle’s nightmare summer

If things don’t work out as planned, Newcastle United may have a horrible summer. The Magpies needed to improve going into this transfer window after failing to make it to Europe and finishing last in their Champions League group.

However, offloading players to satisfy the Premier League’s profit and sustainability rules and the loss of co-owners Amanda Staveley and Mehrdad Ghodoussi has clouded over their early dealings.

This might not be the end of their suffering either, as their manager Eddie Howe who may take over as manager of the England team and some of its best players have been linked to moves away from St. James’s Park.

Eight years in charge of the national team, Gareth Southgate’s career with England ended after two finals in the European Championship and a semi- final in the World Cup. The focus now quickly shifts to who will take his position as manager, and Howe, the current manager of Newcastle, is one of the front-runners and has emerged as a favourite among bookmakers. Given Howe’s prior remarks regarding the prospect of coaching England, it would be disastrous for the Magpies to lose their manager right before the Premier League season begins.
