At 40 years old, retired NFL wide receiver Jacoby Jones is best remembered for the “Mile High Miracle” that enabled the Baltimore Ravens to advance to Super Bowl XLVII. His passing was announced by his family via the NFL Players’ Association, with a statement stating that he passed away “peacefully.”
But after learning of his untimely demise, a lot of people were curious to know more about Jacoby’s life and circumstances. This is what we currently know about the cause of death for Jacoby Jones.

What caused Jacoby Jones to pass away?
The first statement on Jacoby’s death did not provide the cause of death. The statement read, “The family, including his mother, Emily, and his son, Little Jacoby, are together and are asking for prayers, privacy, and support as they navigate through this difficult time.” Jacoby passed away at his New Orleans home.
Therefore, it’s unknown precisely what transpired with Jacoby, and there hasn’t been any information released regarding his health before to his passing.
In a statement issued on July 14, the Baltimore Ravens paid tribute to Jacoby, saying, “Jacoby had the unique ability to connect with everyone he encountered.” His unique presence, infused with enthusiasm, love, and charisma, could illuminate any space and lift any depressing mood.”
With only 31 seconds remaining in the divisional round game against the Denver Broncos, Jacoby’s catch of the game-winning touchdown in the “Mile High Miracle” proved to be a crucial component of the Ravens’ 2012 Super Bowl run.
Jacoby’s previous teammates and coaches remembered him.
After being traded to the Steelers in 2017, Jacoby signed a one-day deal with the Ravens to formally retire from the league. His last season as a player was in 2015. He also spent five seasons as a player with the Houston Texans before moving to Baltimore.
Many of his former teammates and coaches paid tribute to him both on and off the field after hearing of his passing.

“Jacoby possessed a special ability to establish a connection with everyone he met. Coach Jim Harbaugh of the Ravens stated, “His charisma, joy, and love created a one-of-a-kind presence that could light up any room or brighten any dark day.”
“Jacoby was one of the most enjoyable teammates and individuals I have ever encountered. He never stopped smiling and dancing, and his smile never went away. Gone too soon, far too soon,” JJ Watt, a former teammate, continued.
“I sincerely miss you, my brother. The memories and the effort you put in, both on and off the football field, are too much for them to handle. You are a @Ravens for life who has always given back and been a cornerstone in the community. Love you, JJ “Ray Lewis continued.
It was evident that Jacoby was adored by his teammates and previous coaches, and even after he retired, he maintained ties to the Baltimore area. Every time Jacoby went back to the city, he claimed, his memories came flooding back.
“I bow down to that stadium every time I look at it,” he said.
