Louisville man arrested, charged with murder after man found shot in car outside Greenwood Elementary

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) — Louisville Metro Police have arrested and charged a man with murder after a man was found shot in a car outside of Greenwood Elementary Friday afternoon.

 

According to court documents, LMPD arrested 31-year-old Patrick Anderson, of Louisville, and charged him with murder, tampering with physical evidence and possessing a gun by a convicted felon.

 

On Friday just after 12:30 p.m., police were dispatched to a motor vehicle accident in the area of 5800 Greenwood Road in the city’s Pleasure Ridge Park neighborhood, LMPD said in a news release. But, when police arrived, they found a man in a car with “an apparent gunshot wound” to the head.

The man was transported to UofL Hospital where he was pronounced dead LMPD said.

 

Court documents said surveillance video shows a man, later identified as Anderson, get into the victim’s car at the Circle K on Greenwood Road. Soon after, the car hit a pole at Greenwood Elementary, and witnesses said one person was seen fleeing the car after the crash. Police searched the car and found several shell casings, according to court documents.

 

Anderson is being held at Louisville Metro Corrections, and expected to be arraigned Saturday morning.
