John Wick: Beneath The High Table is a brand-new action series from Lionsgate that is extending the John Wick universe. The star of the film franchise, Keanu Reeves, and director Chad Stahelski, who will also helm the premiere episode, are executive producing this series. Written by The Old Man co-creator Robert Levine, the series picks up just after John Wick: Chapter 4’s events. The narrative centers on new persons attempting to establish themselves in a society rocked by John Wick’s deeds. There will be some well-known movie characters who will continue to act in the same manner. This mash-up of new and old characters is reminiscent of Lionsgate’s successful John Wick prequel series The Continental.
Stahelski is producing the series under his own banner, 87Eleven Entertainment. In January, he inked an agreement with Lionsgate to control creative parts of the John Wick franchise. Executive producing the series with Reeves are Levine (showrunner) and Thunder Road producers Erica Lee and Basil Iwanyk. Although he serves as executive producer on the show, Reeves is not anticipated to play an acting role. The project is garnering a lot of interest, and he is reportedly quite involved in it.
