Dollywood flash flooding caused by torrential rain leaves 1 person injured, park say

At least one person was injured after Dollywood was hit by flash flooding following a strong thunderstorm over the weekend, according to the theme park.

According to a post from the park on social media, a strong storm moved in on Sunday. Park guests were directed to safety during the storm by Dollywood workers, with the help of Pigeon Forge police and fire departments.

The National Weather Service office in Morristown issued a flash flood warning for Pigeon Forge on Sunday. The agency said the main concern is localized flooding due to abundant moisture and repeated heavy rainfall. More strong to severe storms are possible in the area Tuesday through Thursday night.

One minor injury has been reported so far, Dollywood said in the post, although the park did not elaborate if the injury was from an employee or a park guest.

Dollywood is partially owned by Dolly Parton, and is located in Pigeon Forge, Tennessee, just over 30 miles southwest of Knoxville.
