After the Washington Commanders’ 20-17 loss to the New York Jets on August 10, everyone appeared to want to talk about the rookie quarterback and 2024 No. 2 overall pick Jayden Daniels’ preseason debut.
That makes sense. Daniels finished the drive with a 3-yard touchdown run, looking electrifying in the process.
He wasn’t the only rookie, though, who left a lasting impression.

Due to his performance, Brent Sobleski of Bleacher Report listed Sinnott as one of the NFL’s Top 10 Preseason Rookies.
Sobleski noted, “General manager Adam Peters drafted Sinnott in the second round for a reason.” He can be his quarterbacks’ safety blanket because he is a great athlete. In the game against the New York Jets, Sinnott caught three catches for 57 yards. The tight end’s 44-yard breakout was, to Quinn’s point, a simple seam route with a free release, but the rookie had to make the grab while keeping a safety bearing down on him. The tight end made the tackle miss. Although Sinnott has the potential to develop into a great weapon for Kliff Kingsbury’s passing attack, Zach Ertz is a seasoned veteran.
Sinnott at Kansas State Became a Big 12 Star
Sinnott was a two-time All-Big 12 pick in 2022 and 2023 after having 82 receptions for 1,138 receiving yards, 10 touchdowns, and 1 rushing score in his three seasons at Kansas State. His ten receiving touchdowns were a career high for tight ends at Kansas State.
The 6-foot-4, 247-pound Sinnott was taken by the Commanders in the second round (at pick number 54 overall), becoming him the team’s highest-draft tight end since they took Fred Davis of USC in the second round (at pick number 48 overall) in 2008.
In his post-draft assessments for all 32 NFL clubs, PFF’s Trevor Sikkema noted, “The Commanders pick the 105th-ranked player in Round 2 (with Sinnott) after previously getting great value in this draft, according to the PFF big board.” “Jaden Daniels will be able to develop with athletic tight end Sinnott over the next ten years.” He is competent at everything and doesn’t specialize in any one area. Among tight ends, Sinnott’s 14 forced missed tackles in 2023 placed him third. In the previous two seasons, he had 31 big plays.

On May 6, former Washington tight end Chris Cooley stated he saw a lot of similarities between himself and Sinnott on The Kevin Sheehan Show.
