Mainoo’s rise as a possible mainstay of the team’s midfield has raised doubts about the positions of established players like Casemiro and Scott McTominay. “He came through last season, we were asking questions about United’s midfield,” commented Carragher in response to this change. Previously, it was Casemiro who needed a companion; currently, it’s Mainoo. He’s going to be huge, in my opinion.
