Breaking News: Gresini reveals Ducati protege replacing Marc Marquez in 2025 Read more

In the MotoGP paddock’s worst kept secret, Marc Marquez’s replacement at Gresini has finally been revealed as Moto2 sensation Fermin Aldeguer will join the team from 2025.

Aldeguer was announced as a factory-contracted Ducati rider in March, signing a two-year deal with an option for two further seasons in January, and with confirmation that he would receive the latest factory-spec bikes in 2026.

However, there has been considerable turmoil inside the Ducati operation since Aldeguer’s deal, which has complicated his eventual MotoGP ascension and left plans of where he would end up on the backburner.

That included a factory seat shoot-out between Marquez – who won that battle and joins the works team next year – and now Aprilia-bound Jorge Martin to resolve, plus the long-running saga of current top tier satellite team Pramac’s future, and it eventually decided to defect to Yamaha for next season.

But, with every other Ducati seat on the grid bar one at VR46 now filled (and with Franco Morbidelli expected to take over from Marco Bezzecchi there), it’s been an open secret that Aldeguer would eventually land at Gresini to replace Marquez.
