Louisville police shoot man trying to carjack woman in Walmart pharmacy drive-thru

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) — A man armed with two guns was shot multiple times by a Louisville Metro Police officer while he tried to carjack and “potentially kidnap” a woman in the drive-thru at a local Walmart, Interim Chief Paul Humphrey said Wednesday.

Around 12:15 p.m., Humphrey said a Kentucky State Police trooper was in a vehicle pursuit that ended with a collision at Outer Loop and New Cut Road.

  1. One man in the car was arrested by the trooper, later identified by court documents as Jeremy Bozarth, 44, of Louisville. Another person in the car, who Humphrey said was armed with two guns, ran toward the Walmart at that intersection

Humphrey said that man was inside the Walmart when LMPD officers arrived on scene and located him, at which point he ran outside and jumped in the passenger seat of a car in the drive-thru at the pharmacy. Police made several verbal commands for the man to get out of the car before opening fire, shooting the man multiple times.

A woman was in the driver’s seat during the entire incident, Humphrey said. When asked if the man fired at police before he was shot, Humphrey simply said it’s still under investigation.
