Mavericks Owner Mark Cuban Issues An Apology To Jalen Brunson Regarding His Parents’ Insult During 2022 Contract Talks

The ‘Roommates Show’ podcast, hosted by Jalen Brunson and Josh Hart, had Mark Cuban as a guest. Former Mavericks player Brunson talked about his concerns on their 2022 negotiations. When Brunson expressed his displeasure with Cuban making fun of his parents, Cuban promptly apologized. Mark Cuban: “I had faith that it would succeed. I did, truly. However, it didn’t, and that’s alright. It’s all good when it ends well. King of NY, I’m happy for you and I’m delighted for us. That’s just the way things are. The NBA is that.

Jalen Brunson: “Mark’s statement that “things became messy when the parents got involved” was the only thing I found objectionable. The one thing about it that made me think, “Damn, that was a little jab.” Cuban: “Actually wasn’t. It was not where I wanted to go. It was anything but a jab. It’s not necessary for us to discuss any of that, but it really wasn’t just a jab, JB.” Brunson : “I’m just saying, when I heard that, that’s what made me – I felt a certain way…” Cuban: “I’m sorry. That was not the plan. However, it was difficult to handle. In many respects, the negotiation was unusual.” Brunson: “I think we went through the same negotiation process.
