SARASOTA COUNTY, Fla. — A crash involving two pickup trucks on Fruitville Road and Vic Edwards Road in Sarasota has left two people hospitalized, Florida Highway Patrol (FHP) said in a release.
One person involved in the crash has serious injuries, FHP said.
The crash reportedly happened around 3:50 p.m. Sunday.
The sheriff’s office says one truck was traveling east on Fruitville while another traveled west. The first truck reportedly swerved into the westbound lane before both vehicles collided head-on.
The driver and passenger in the first truck reportedly suffered “critical” injuries and were taken to the hospital, FHP said.
The crash shut down both westbound and eastbound lanes of Fruitville Road at Vic Edwards Road. Those roads have since reopened to traffic.
