Sad News: Driver injured after hot-rod hits bridge

dispatched to a single-car collision on the Maroondah Highway at the Yarra Flats bridge as it approached town on Sunday, April 10, at 10.20 a.m. According to Healesville CFA Captain Graeme Bates, the 62-year-old driver of the hot rod apparently made a turn on the straight section of road before crashing it into the bridge’s railing. Capt. Bates stated, “We don’t know the cause of it.” “He’s just driving along, and those in his wake claim that he simply made a right turn to cross the bridge. “He made a full right-hand turn into the railings in the middle of the bridge.” He mentioned the vehicle.The man suffered multiple fractures, including shattered ankles, and cuts when he was transported to The Alfred hospital by MICA (Mobile Intensive Care Ambulance). According to Captain Bates, the hot rod was a “total write off,” with the front end of the vehicle removed to allow the remnants to be removed off the bridge. Later on in the day, emergency services were called out once more to a three-car pile-up on Don Road in Healesville. The collision involved a Toyota LandCruiser following a Mitsubishi Lancer and a Holden Calais that was waiting to turn right. The Lancer was completely damaged in the second incident, which happened at 1:30 pm on the same day, according to Captain Bates, even though no one was hurt. “They had just been rattled.
