Breaking News:71-year-old boater found dead in Grand Canyon, yet another fatality at the park in 2024

According to sources, this week saw the discovery of a missing boater’s body along the Colorado River in the heart of the Grand Canyon. This becomes the 16th person to pass away in the national park this year. According to a Grand Canyon National Park news release, park rangers received a call at approximately 9:15 a.m. on Monday reporting the disappearance of a boater in the vicinity of Lower Nankoweap Camp along the Colorado River.

A boater went missing near Lower Nankoweap Camp on the Colorado River on Monday, according to a news release from Grand Canyon National Park. Park rangers received the call at around 9:15 a.m.

According to Baird, there are about 10 to 15 recorded deaths in the Grand Canyon each year, as reported by CBS News. She listed heart attacks, falls, drownings, and natural causes as among the causes of death; other causes remain unknown.
