Two Motorcyclists Dead From Crashing Into Same Cheyenne Building Within 3 Weeks

In the last three weeks, two motorcyclists have tragically lost their lives after colliding with the same building in Cheyenne. Authorities suspect that excessive speed played a role in both incidents.

Two young men, riding motorcycles at high speeds, have died in separate accidents involving the same structure in Cheyenne over the past three weeks.

“We cannot speculate on the reasons behind the occurrence of both crashes at this specific location; however, in the latest incident, speed is being considered a contributing factor,” stated Alexandra Farkas, spokesperson for the Cheyenne Police Department, in an email to Cowboy State Daily on Tuesday.

“These incidents are heartbreaking and will have lasting impacts on the families and friends of the victims, as well as on those who witnessed the events,” Farkas continued. “We strongly encourage our community to reduce their speed and remain vigilant while navigating our roads.”

Both accidents took place at the intersection of East Lincolnway and Nationway, which is one of the busiest intersections in the area and features a significant curve. The motorcyclists collided with the Cheyenne Stitch building, and both were young men aged 20 and 18.

The Laramie County Coroner’s office had not provided the names of the deceased by the time of publication on Tuesday.

The first incident occurred on the morning of August 28, when the 20-year-old motorcyclist was reportedly traveling over 10 mph above the speed limit. He lost control at the intersection, veered to the right, mounted the curb, and crashed into the building, according to a statement from the Cheyenne Police Department at the time.

The individual succumbed to his injuries later at Cheyenne Regional Medical Center.

Nancy Kulisz, a resident of Cheyenne, witnessed the event while walking to work.

To her, it appeared as though a vehicle was about to run a red light, but the driver managed to brake abruptly just in time.
