The vehicle exited the road and hit a ditch, throwing the driver out of the open top. Obviously, the man wasn’t wearing a seatbelt at the time, otherwise he might have survived the wreck.
Video of the hot rod shows at least the front passenger-side wheel is damaged, same with the headers, and likely the front axle. However, the Ford’s body appears to be completely fine, so had the man been strapped in he might have been bruised but had walked away from the accident. Yes, it is even more important to always be alert and in charge of your vehicle, but we don’t know for sure if the driver lost control of his hot rod due to a medical crisis; these information haven’t been made public. That is to say, if your car has seatbelts, you should definitely put them on. According to the local story, this Deuce appears to have been equipped with these, although it’s quite bad that the man wasn’t using his seatbelt.
