After a scooter and a pickup vehicle collided near Bar Harbor on Thursday, a woman lost her life. Anita Burdzel, 52, was riding a moped along State Highway 102 and Gilbert Farm Road at around 2:45 p.m., according to Bar Harbor police. The scooter was apparently approaching a halted pickup truck at a high speed, according to the police. The scooter and the pickup truck collided when the truck veered to the right to avoid a collision. Burdzel was ejected off the moped. After being brought to a nearby hospital, she was later declared deceased. Speed and driver inattention seem to have played a role in the collision, according to Bar Harbor police.
