Today’s report: Officials identify woman killed in 5-vehicle crash in Augusta While 10 Seriously Injured

Maine Department of Public Safety has identified the woman killed in Friday’s crash in Augusta.

Sari Ohmart, 68, of Brewer was killed in the crash on Interstate 95 southbound, according to a press release from the department.

Traffic on the highway was stopped at 3:09 p.m. due to construction, when a 2019 Ford pickup rear-ended a 2024 Toyota SUV, which triggered a five-vehicle crash, according to the release..

Sari Ohmart was a passenger in the SUV and pronounced dead at the scene, the release stated. A dog in the vehicle was also killed.

The SUV’s driver, Sari Ohmart’s husband, Leslie, was transported to Maine General Hospital in Augusta with non-life threatening injuries.

The pickup’s driver, Robin Carter, 28, of Limerick, was also transported to Maine General with non-life threatening injuries, according to the release.

“Every other injury in the crash was non-life threatening,” the release stated.

Traffic was diverted off Exit 113, but all lanes reopened as of 6 p.m. Friday.

The crash is under investigation.
