Multiple people died as Plane crash at Ontario Municipal Airport

ONTARIO — First responders are on scene at Ontario Municipal Airport where a small plane crashed on a runway at about 1 p.m. today. Witnesses parked along Southwest Fourth Avenue say the plane was engulfed in flames when they arrived and they believe da man who was in the plane was out walking around before being taken to the hospital for medical treatment by local paramedics via ground ambulance. This was confirmed in a news release by Ontario Fire Department which stated that the pilot — the lone occupant — “was able to self-extricate and is receiving medical treatment.”

According to the N Number in the FAA Registry, the plane is a fixed wing single-engine ERCoupe 415C manufactured in 1946. The registered owner is Alfred E. McMillin, of Parma. It is unknown at this time whether he was flying the plane.

Multiple agencies responded, including Ontario Fire Department, Ontario Police Department, Oregon State Police and Treasure Valley Paramedics.

“A single plane crashed on the runway while attempting to land,” according to the news release from Ontario Fire. “The fire has been extinguished at this time.”

The runway will remain closed for several hours while the investigation is conducted.

This is a developing story and we will provide more information as it becomes available.
