A 24-year-old man was found dead at Canyon Lake on Tuesday.
Authorities identify the deceased man as Dax Wooten, from the San Antonio area.
Wooten is the second person discovered dead at Canyon Lake in less than 2 weeks.
On August 12, authorities also found 54-year-old James Karczewski dead at the bottom of Canyon Lake.
Both individuals had been out fishing prior to their disappearances.
We’re told Karczewski had been waiting near a boat ramp, while a friend went to get a truck for the boat. When the friend returned, Karczewski was gone.
Authorities found the boat floating nearby, with a dog on board. However, Karczewski’s body wasn’t discovered for about a day.
“That is concerning,” said one boater on Canyon Lake on Tuesday.
A spokesperson from the Comal County Sheriff’s Office tells us that Wooten’s boat had been experiencing mechanical issues prior to his disappearance on Sunday.
“While he was working on the boat motor himself, he possibly fell overboard,” said a spokesperson from Texas Parks and Wildlife.
Wooten was listed as a missing person on August 19th. His body was found Tuesday afternoon.
We did some research on Canyon Lake. Since 2013, statistics show it’s the 4th deadliest lake in Texas with 15 fatalities. This number does not include Wooten’s recent death.
