One person dead after traffic accident in southeast Lincoln

Back-to-back wrecks in Lincoln stopped traffic on Alabama 77 on Thursday afternoon.

Lincoln police officer Britt Robbins said the first accident happened shortly before 5 on Alabama 77 southbound just south of Speedway Boulevard.

“That accident was a one-vehicle rollover,” he said. “Two people were injured and transported by ambulance to an area hospital.”

Robbins said the second wreck happened about 30 minutes later when a vehicle rear-ended another vehicle on Alabama 77 northbound across from the site of the first wreck.

“Traffic southbound was stopped for about an hour and briefly stopped northbound,” he said. “There were several injuries in the second wreck.”
