Two dead after car ends up in water near Duinrell

WASSENAAR – Two men who were in the car that ended up in the water early Sunday morning at a parking lot in Duinrell in Wassenaar have died in hospital, the police reported.

The third victim, a 28-year-old man, has been arrested. He is believed to have been the driver. All three men lived temporarily at the holiday park, a spokesperson for Duinrell told Omroep West. During the winter months, Duinrell rents out the cottages for long periods to people who work in the area.

Emergency services received a report that a car had ended up in the water at the parking lot. Fire department divers pulled two men out of the car. The third managed to get to shore with the help of the divers. According to the police, it is probably a single-vehicle accident.

The car was pulled out of the water with a fire brigade crane. The police are investigating the cause of the accident.
