IHAYWOOD COUNTY, S.C. (FOX Carolina) – Two drivers are dead and an eight-year-old was hurt after a head-on crash near the Haywood-Buncombe County line, according to the North Carolina Highway Patrol (NCDOT).

 

Troopers said the call came in at around 1:08 p.m. after a pickup traveling west to Haywood County on US-19 crossed the center line, hitting a Ford Explorer traveling east head-on.

 

According to NCDOT, the driver of the pickup was ejected and both drivers died at the scene.

 

Officials identified the victim in the pickup as 37-year-old Harry Joseph Marker of Charlotte and the driver of the Ford Explorer as 57-year-old Melissa Anderson Luther.

Officials said the child was in the Ford Explorer and was taken to the hospital for treatment.
