Blue Bloods’ Shocker: Frank Discovers Hidden Connection to Son’s Killer

Paulette Cohn March 15, 2024 On tonight’s episode of Blue Bloods, “Past Is Present,” Frank (Tom Selleck) is about to applaud Mike McFadden, an NYPD cop, when he finds out that Mike lied to get on the police. This puts Frank in a difficult moral position. It goes beyond that as well. In reality, McFadden is the son of Sonny Malevsky, a former NYPD detective who killed Frank’s son Joe (Michael T. Weiss). Frank must decide whether to accept the cliches that “the apple doesn’t fall far from the tree” or whether Mike should not be held accountable for his father’s transgressions.

Frank goes to visit Mike after he doesn’t show up, and Mike informs him that he knew he wouldn’t have a chance to join the NYPD if he had gone under his birth name, which has been legally changed. “I was aware of my father,” Mike says to Frank. “I lied because of that.”

Apart from being an NYPD investigator, Sonny Malevsky was also the head of the Blue Templar, a criminal fraternal society. Malevsky killed Joe Reagan when he was looking into the illicit activity of the Blue Templar. Malevsky took his own life after Frank had him taken into custody.
