PRINCE GEORGE’S COUNTY, Md. — A 1-year-old girl, who was abducted with her two brothers by their father from a home in Virginia Beach Wednesday night, has died Thursday from injuries sustained in a car crash, police said.
The three young children were taken from the home on Jay Are Court just before 9 p.m. by their father, 36-year-old Dana Plummer, who then fled in a black Honda Passport.
Police say Plummer allegedly stabbed his ex-wife and his 12-year-old stepdaughter before taking his children: Zayin Plummer, 7, Zayir Plummer, 5, and Za’riyah, 1. His ex-wife is the mother of the 12-year-old girl and the three children who were abducted, police added.
Dana Plummer was also hospitalized in the crash, according to Maryland State Police.About 12 hours after the abduction, a citizen who recognized the car from the Amber Alert contacted police. Virginia State Police then attempted a traffic stop on I-95 in Fairfax County, Va.
Plummer did not stop and led VSP on a chase into Prince George’s County, Md., where the vehicle crashed into two other vehicles and overturned near exit 7 on I-495, according to Maryland State Police.
Maryland State Police reported at around 10:30 a.m. on X that they were on scene of the crash, however, they were not involved in the chase:
