UPDATE: Authorities identify couple killed in single-engine plane crash in Wayne County

ST. GEORGE — A single-engine plane crash in Wayne County left two dead late Friday morning

The crash was reported by a witness shortly after 11 a.m. near Miner’s Mountain Road in the Grover area, according to a statement released by Wayne County Sheriff’s Office.

According to authorities, the single-engine aircraft was a Cirrus SR-22 occupied by the pilot, later identified as Christian Simonsen, and his wife, Lynn Ann Anderson-Simonsen, of Morgan Hill, California, who were killed in the crash.

 

Responding deputies and emergency personnel found a large debris field and flames scattered throughout the area.

 

An investigator from the Utah State Medical Examiner’s Office responded to the scene to conduct a preliminary investigation before the couple’s remains were transported to the Medical Examiner’s Office for further investigation

The cause of the crash is still under investigation. The National Transportation Safety Board were notified and responded to the crash site the following day to conduct a follow-up investigation.

 

The Wayne County Sheriff’s Office, Wayne County EMS and Wayne County Sheriff’s Search and Rescue responded and tended to the scene.
