California Highway Patrol says a portion of a road north of Hollister was closed after two big rigs crashed Monday around 9:56 a.m.

Highway 25 was closed between Bolsa Road, and Shore Road was closed while CHP investigated and the road was cleared.

The California Department of Transportation said that as of 3:47 p.m., Highway 25 has fully reopened.

CHP says that at least one person was killed in the crash.

Preliminary details show that a 70-year-old man from San Jose was driving a 2017 Freightliner Cascadia north at around 60 mph on Highway 25. At the same time, a 2022 Mack Anthem was going south at around 40 mph, said CHP.

The Freightliner driver crossed the double solid yellow line into the southbound lane and crashed head-on with the Mack truck.
