Ten fire engines and around 70 firefighters flocked to the Hertfordshire border to tackle a large workshop blaze that led to residents being evacuated and closed a main road. The blaze occurred on Monday night (June 5) just after 5pm when the Metropolitan Police were called to reports of a fire on Northway Crescent in Mill End, close to Elstree.
The incident led to emergency services to rush to the scene, including fire crews from Mill Hill, Hendon, Stanmore and surrounding fire stations, Hertfordshire Fire and Rescue Service, and The Metropolitan Police. A cordon was put in place to allow the emergency services to deal with the flames.
Numerous gardens and garages were involved in the blaze and major roads close to the scene, including the A1, A41 and M1 were very busy. Luckily, there were no injuries reported but the fire caused great concern for surrounding residents, as 25 people were evacuated as a precaution.
