UPDATE (3:03 p.m.): The Gulf Shores Police Department has confirmed a Thursday morning crash on Gulf Shores Parkway resulted in the death of one person.
Gulf Shores Police and Fire Rescue responded to a two-vehicle crash on the 3700 block of Gulf Shores Parkway at 10:42 a.m. Thursday.
On the scene, officers determined a 2016 Lincoln Navigator was driving north on Gulf Shores Parkway when it left the roadway and sideswiped a light pole in the median.
The Lincoln continued driving north and hit a boat and trailer that a 2018 Chevy Silverado was towing.
“The truck was stopped in the left turn lane on Gulf Shores Parkway at Cypress Bend Drive when the collision occurred,” the release said. ” The force of the impact caused the boat to leave the trailer coming to rest in the southbound lanes of traffic on Gulf Shores Parkway.”
Gulf Shores Police said the Lincoln driver was pronounced dead at the scene, and the Chevy driver was uninjured.
The driver’s name is being withheld until the family is notified, police said.
The investigation remains ongoing.
