Latest injury updates on Patrick Mahomes after the Kansas City Chiefs quarterback suffered a scare vs. the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on Monday Night Football.

The entire Kansas City Chiefs organization was in a state of concern.

Chiefs star quarterback Patrick Mahomes had to be helped off the field by the team’s medical staff midway through the fourth quarter during Monday night’s overtime win against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

Mahomes was injured when he made a shot-put style throw to running back Samaje Perine for a 7-yard touchdown that tied the game at 17-17 with 14:14 on the clock in the final quarter. Mahomes took an awkward step and his left ankle appeared to give out on him as he planted to throw.

Perine caught the football in the end zone, but all the attention was on Mahomes as he stayed on the ground in obvious pain. The Chiefs franchise quarterback was eventually escorted off the field by the team’s medical staff.

Patrick Mahomes injury update

Mahomes was tended to in the Chiefs medical tent briefly and then came out to workout his tender ankle. The Chiefs announced Mahomes suffered an ankle injury.
