Radiohead’s Colin Greenwood to tour with Nick Cave and The Bad Seeds in North America

Nick Cave has confirmed that Radiohead’s Colin Greenwood will be touring as The Bad Seeds’ live bassist on their run of dates across North America. The news follows Cave’s announcement that longtime bassist Martyn Casey will not be on the road due to health concerns.

This upcoming jaunt won’t be Greenwood’s first time touring with Cave and The Bad Seeds. Cave confirmed that Casey wouldn’t be on tour with the band for the UK leg of their tour in 2024 with a social media post on September 4th with Greenwood stepping in to fill the vacancy.

“Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds are sad to announce that due to illness, Martyn Casey will not be joining the forthcoming UK and European tour,” he previously wrote in an Instagram post, “Colin Greenwood will stand in on bass for these shows. The band send Martyn their love and best wishes.”

Due to Casey’s health appearing to not improve, Greenwood will now join the band in America. The musician is enjoying life with The Bad Seeds and recently spoke about the main differences between life on the road with them compared with Radiohead.

“Perhaps the biggest difference between touring with Radiohead and Nick Cave is the sartorial formality of the Bad Seeds. Every evening in our dressing room, we are presented with a rack of steamed and pressed suits, and starched and ironed shirts,” he said to the New Statesman, “I think if my mother was alive, she would finally approve of me, playing for the Bad Seeds, looking smart in a navy suit and black brogues after years of double denim in Radiohead.”

He continued, “I’m just stunned every night by Nick’s raging intensity on stage, how he can draw thousands of people into a kind of communion and make these impersonal arenas feel intimate and small.”

Nick Cave and The Bad Seeds’ tour of North America will begin on April 15th in Boston and finish on May 17th in Pasadena.
