20-year-old California man dead after fatal Grand Canyon crash

COVINGTON — Terry Badger II will be buried at a cemetery plot which was chosen last year during the blur of the most horrific days of his life, when he had to bury his 13-year-old son on a dismal, devastating day at the edge of an open field where he knew his son would be at peace with the deer roaming freely and the country breeze blowing.

It was a plot next to the one Badger would be buried at some day. No one knew then in March 2023 how soon that day would come.

Just months after he buried his son Terry Badger III — a baseball phenom and kindhearted kid known as TB3 who died by suicide after enduring bullying at school — the elder Badger was diagnosed with an aggressive cancer.

“He has been going through hell for more than four months,” his brother Tony Badger told IndyStar at the time. “And there is nothing we can do to fix it.”

Badger, 40, died early Wednesday morning at his home in Covington surrounded by his family. He will be buried Tuesday at Mt. Hope Cemetery next to his son.

“My brother was a damn good one and gone too soon,” Tony said Wednesday night. “But he is up there with TB3 and it had to be the best reunion ever in heaven.”
