He graduated from the University at Buffalo in 1970 with a bachelor’s degree in history and earned a master’s in international relations from Johns Hopkins University in 1972. Blitzer began his journalism career in the early 1970s, reporting for Reuters in Tel Aviv, and later served as a correspondent for The Jerusalem Post in Washington, D.C., from 1973 to 1990.

 

Career at CNN

 

In 1990, Blitzer joined CNN as the network’s military affairs correspondent. His coverage of the Persian Gulf War earned him a Golden CableACE Award. He went on to serve as CNN’s senior White House correspondent and anchored programs such as “Late Edition with Wolf Blitzer” and “The Situation Room,” which he began hosting in 2005.
