
Officials identify 2 killed after vehicle hit tree in Marquette County
MARQUETTE COUNTY, MI – Police have identified two people who died after a crash in the Upper Peninsula.
WLUC-TV reported Thursday that driver Jerimiah James Patterson and passenger McKenna Marion Patterson, both of Flat Rock, died in Marquette County’s Tilden Township around 5:57 p.m. on Monday.
The Marquette County Sheriff’s Office responded to the scene. Deputies say Jerimiah was driving when the vehicle left the road and hit a tree. Both were pronounced dead at the scene.
County Roads 581 and 482 were closed while an investigation was conducted but has since reopened.
Deputies say speed and possibly alcohol are believed to be contributing factors, but the crash remains under investigation.
Ishpeming Township Fire Department, UPHS EMS, Ishpeming Police Department, Michigan State Police and Rescue 131 assisted at the scene.
