FORT NELSON, B.C. — Motorists driving towards the Yukon are being advised that the Alaska Highway is closed between Fort Nelson and the Liard River.
Highway 97 is currently closed in both directions at kilometre 668, north of Toad River, 190km west of Fort Nelson.
According to Public Services and Procurement Canada’s road report, the cause of the closure is a “fuel spill.”
DriveBC says an assessment of the “vehicle incident” is in progress, with the next update due to be posted at 6.00 p.m. on April 7th.
