Woman sentenced to 3 years in prison for fatal hit-and-run in Athens
Green received the maximum sentence of 36 months in prison and the possibility for judicial release after six months.
COLUMBUS, Ohio — A 30-year-old woman was sentenced Wednesday to three years in prison for a fatal hit-and-run last summer in Athens.
Kendra Marie Green, of Albany, pleaded guilty to failing to stop after an accident, said Athens County Prosecuting Attorney Keller Blackburn.
Judge George McCarthy of the Athens County Court of Common Pleas gave Green the maximum sentence of 36 months in prison and the possibility for judicial release after six months.
According to Blackburn, troopers with the Ohio State Highway Patrol were called to Radford Road in Athens County last June on a report of a crash involving a pedestrian.
Upon arrival, troopers found 48-year-old Martin Ryan Woods, of Athens, lying on the ground near debris from his electric bicycle and from the car. Woods was airlifted to Cabell Huntington Hospital in West Virginia, where he later died from his injuries.
Green was arrested and convicted for her role in the deadly crash following an investigation by OSHP.
In addition, Green was ordered to pay restitution to Woods’ family and will be subject to post-release control for up to two years after she is released from prison.
Green is scheduled to be held in prison on April 24.
