GRANT COUNTY, Indiana — Grant County authorities are investigating after a Marion man was killed in a crash between a motorcycle and pickup truck Saturday night.
The crash was reported around 10:30 p.m. May 10 at the intersection of South Troy Avenue and West 9th Street, just west of Marion city limits.
Responding sheriff’s deputies located a motorcyclist in a field south of the intersection. The motorcyclist, identified as 31-year-old Tyler Joseph Ensor, of Marion, was pronounced dead at the scene.
The Grant County Sheriff’s Office said a preliminary investigation indicated Ensor was driving a 2024 Kawasaki motorcycle southbound on Troy Avenue when it disregarded the stop sign and crashed into the side of a 2005 Ford pickup truck driven by a 42-year-old man from Converse, Indiana.
The cause of the crash remains under investigation, though the sheriff’s office said speed “is believed to be a contributing factor,” while “at this time,” alcohol and drugs do not appear to be involved.
“Sheriff Del Garcia extends his thoughts and prayers to the families involved and expresses gratitude to all first responders who assisted at the scene and with the investigation,” the sheriff’s office said in a statement.
Anyone with information on the crash is asked to contact Grant County Sheriff’s Office Fatal Accident Reconstruction investigators Deputy Matt O’Banion or Lieutenant Jared Rice at (765) 662-9836.
