Country music singers Lorrie Morgan and her son, Jesse Keith Whitley, expressed their profound grief and enduring love for her husband as they announced the death of Randy White from cancer.
Morgan stepped away from performing in April in order to be by White’s side during his final days. White, 72, passed on Sunday, little more than a year after he was diagnosed in April 2024 with mouth cancer, according to People magazine.
Randy has been my partner, my champion and my rock for 17 years,” Morgan said on Facebook. “Our big, wonderful family and I are devastated at the loss of this truly kind and incredible man. I was blessed by his love. Ran-Ran, I will love and miss you forever.”
Whitley posted a poignant account on Facebook of his bedside vigil with White while “this great man” was in hospice.
“He has shown unconditional love to my mother and been the most gentle soul to ever grace this entire family,” Whitley said on Facebook. “As we say our goodbyes, I reminisce of all the good times we have had & the battles he has helped overcome.”
White often drove Whitley home after long nights of partying, the stepson wrote.
“Even when I called from a jail cell he laughed at me and said well I’ll be there in a little bit [boy mom was pissed],” Whitley posted.
Whitley noted that many people are mourning the loss of White.
“I can’t tell you the amount of love that has poured in from fans, family and friends,” Whitely said. “We will miss you always and forever and our hearts are shattered in losing you. But you have fought one helluva fight RanMan! Rest easy say hello to everyone and loveon Weezy.”
