JUST IN: George Russell Challenges Max Verstappen with “More Points on License”!

The entire Formula 1 community is going to tune in for the Canadian Grand Prix soon. However, the spotlight is not on the McLarens this weekend. The Canadian GP is looking like a war between the two drivers on the front row. George Russell is starting the race on pole and Max Verstappen is going to start from second.

The paddock is well acquainted with the antics between the two drivers. Since the Spanish GP, Russell and Verstappen are not seeing each other in the eye. There are many accusations and sarcastic remarks flying around from both ends. The battle has come to its epitome after an epic fight for pole on Saturday. Russell did not hold back from inviting Max Verstappen to a challenge. His words can be seen as a direct dig at the Dutchman’s penalty points.

Russell was delighted to secure pole position for the Canadian Grand Prix. As fate would have it, his competitor in qualifying was Max Verstappen. It was the same as 2024, where Russell and Verstappen battled it out for the pole.

Although the stakes are much high in the race in 2025, Max Verstappen is nearing a race ban. He only needs one more penalty point on his racing license to get himself a race ban. Knowing this, Russell quoted Max’s predicament in his interview inviting him to try and be aggressive.

Max Verstappen’s mindset is already clear. He is not going to back down from his racing style. A race ban won’t stop him from trying to beat the other drivers in the race with his aggression. As such, Russell’s mind games will hardly have an effect on the Dutchman’s race.

The Canadian Grand Prix is much more important race for George Russell on the other hand. Mercedes have found their flair once again. He will not want to let go of the opportunity to get himself a race win. He is having his best season so far with multiple podiums. However, Russell needs to secure the win if Mercedes want to fight back in the constructor’s championship.
