Christian McCaffrey was able to finish the 2023 NFL season with the rushing title without playing in the team’s final game.

In Week 17’s win over the Washington Commanders, McCaffrey suffered a mild calf strain. With a first-round bye in the playoffs, the 49ers’ running back has an extra week to recover.

Despite not playing Sunday, McCaffrey was able to secure the NFL’s rushing title, running for 1,459 yards this season. Derrick Henry, who finished in second and played all 18 games, was 292 yards behind McCaffrey.

This is McCaffrey’s first rushing title in his career and the first by a 49ers running back since Joe ‘The Jet’ Perry in 1954.

Christian McCaffrey also gained the most scrimmage yards this season. With his 564 receiving yards, he amassed 2,023 total scrimmage yards, the most in the NFL. He’s also tied for third for the most rushing touchdowns (14) and tied for fifth for the most receiving touchdowns (7).
