The 49ers Enterprises, the owners of Leeds United, are running out of time to sell Helder Costa as the Saudi Arabian transfer window is about to close.

Costa hasn’t been named to the Whites’ matchday squad yet this year, and manager Daniel Farke has made it clear that he won’t be in his future plans.

Despite Saudi interest, “nobody is bothered about Costa” at Elland Road, according to The Athletic’s Phil Hay on August 18 when Luis Sinisterra and Wilfried Gnonto’s names were dominating the gossip pages.

With Leeds wanting Costa to leave and the player himself eager to find a new club, there are only a few days left for the Saudi clubs to strike deals ahead of the confirmed deadline on Tuesday. Thursday [September 7

Turkish clubs have an extra week to conduct their business, but Saudi Arabia still emerges as the most preferred destination for the Angola international, as Hay reported back last month.

It was a rather sad situation as Leeds paid £16m for Costa in July 2020, after spending the previous season on loan at Elland Road.

The 29-year-old has only made 25 appearances for United since making his move permanent, and he has only scored three goals. The previous two seasons were spent on loan.

Costa’s continued stay in West Yorkshire once the foreign transfer windows close is just not a possibility at this juncture, but hopefully plans are underway to agree on a transfer to the Middle East soon.

Only then can the door finally be shut on a Leeds career to forget.

In other Leeds United news, Farke has offered words of advice to a player after his recent struggles.
