Jake Browning was not the problem last week. The Cincinnati Bengals just didn’t put together a game plan that put them in a position to win.

Here is what they need to do this week vs. the Jacksonville Jaguars in the brotherly battle of Zac Taylor and Press Taylor.

Run the Ball

You cannot win with Joe Mixon getting a mere eight carries and no one else carrying the ball in the current landscape. You have to establish the run and take pressure off the quarterback. You can win games with Jake Browning, but you aren’t going to win many games by putting it all on Jake Browning.

Red-Zone Offense

Without that Burrow magic, the Bengals need to figure out how to get the ball in the end zone. They need to be creative with their formations, motions, and play calls in this area. Heavy packages and play-action passes, including bootlegs, should be involved.

Defensive Pressure

The Jaguars offensive line has some holes that the Bengals pass rushers need to take advantage of. I’d love to see some more of Joseph Ossai and Myles Murphy as defensive coordinator Lou Anarumo looks to keep his edge rushers fresh.

Plus Turnovers

The defense also needs to create turnovers and set up scores. This defense has got to take the reins and be responsible for scoring points as well as preventing scores. It’s time for them to step up and show what they can do,

Big Plays

They have to figure out a way to create big plays on offense without Joe Burrow. The good news is that they still have Tee Higgins and Ja’Marr Chase, not to mention the youths in Andrei Iosivas and Charlie Jones.
