Burnley calculating the price of beating Nottingham Forest in the Carabao Cup
Burnley manager Vincent Kompany believed his team had to pay a price for their 1-0 Carabao Cup victory at Nottingham Forest because of the apparent catastrophic knee injury to Hjalmar Ekdal. Zeki Amdouni, a substitute, scored a last-second goal to settle a rather forgettable match and guarantee Burnley a third-round matchup against Salford. However, due to injuries, Vitinho, Aaron Ramsey, and Ekdal were all forced to leave the game; the latter was taken away on a stretcher after a goalmouth brawl in the second half. When questioned about the injuries to his teammates, Kompany responded, “One I think will be bad. It appeared that way. I’ll take anything positive on that of course. “In terms of Viti (Vitinho), we hope he’s not too bad. Certainly, it cost us a little bit this game.
