LAKE OF THE OZARKS, Mo. — An Iowa man disappeared beneath the water’s surface in Party Cove on Saturday.
The Missouri State Highway Patrol Dive Team recovered the body of Anthony G. Burgmeier, 51, of Dubuque, Iowa, from Anderson Hollow Cove, located off the 4-mile marker of the Grand Glaize Arm.
While the circumstances surrounding the incident suggest a drowning or health-related death, the Highway Patrol has not named an official cause. An autopsy is pending.
According to the Highway Patrol, Burgmeier was on a pontoon in Party Cove at 4:45 p.m., Saturday, when he entered the water, started swimming, went under the waterline and did not resurface.
Burgmeier was attending his future son-in-law’s bachelor party over the weekend.
