When the two teams meet at Anfield on Sunday (see live at 9am ET on USA Network and online via NBCSports.com), Liverpool hopes to maintain its positive momentum against the spirited Aston Villa. Darwin Nunez scored twice off the bench for the Reds during their 10-man comeback victory over Newcastle, which came after Virgil van Dijk was dismissed from the game at St. James’ Park.
However, Villa has been on fire since suffering a crushing defeat to Newcastle to start the year, thrashing Everton, Hibernian, and Burnley (and as of the time of this writing, they have already defeated Hibs again in Europa Conference League action). Ollie Watkins and the Villans will be a tough test for the Reds’ back line without Van Dijk, but Jurgen Klopp will be prepared to take on Unai Emery in a battle of brilliant minds.
