Sad News: Albertville man killed in multi-vehicle crash near Somerville

MORGAN CO., Ala. (WAFF) – An Albertville man died following a multi-vehicle wreck on Friday evening.

According to the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency (ALEA), the incident happened around 5:20 p.m. on Alabama 67 near Entrekin Road.

Authorities said 30-year-old, Juan Santos-Gonzalez, was a passenger in a car when he was killed after the car he was in hit another car head-on. The car Santos-Gonzalez was in was driven by 45-year-old Jesus D. Garcia, 45, of Albertville.

The other car involved was driven by a 17-year-old from Arab. Both vehicles were then hit by a vehicle driven by Charles Shumate, 49, of Joppa.

Before the head-on wreck, the car driven by the 17-year-old hit another vehicle driven by Meadow A. McDonald, 19, of Joppa.

Officials said Santos-Gonzalez was pronounced dead at the scene.

ALEA said Garcia and passengers in his vehicle, Ramiro Lopez, 31, of Albertville, and Rodrigo Martinez, 34, of Albertville, were not using seat belts.

They were transported to Huntsville Hospital.
