Who Will Take Joy Reid and Alex Wagner’s Place in MSNBC’s Lineup?
MSNBC is making changes: TVLine has reported that Joy Reid and Alex Wagner will no longer be in charge of their respective time slots.
Reid will no longer anchor The ReidOut, which has been a fixture of the MSNBC schedule for five years, at 7 p.m. as part of a significant programming shift at the network. Sometime this week is when her last episode of the show is scheduled to air. Symone Sanders-Townsend, Alicia Menendez, and Michael Steele—who presently show The Weekend, which airs on Saturday and Sunday mornings—will take Reid’s place on the network.
Meanwhile, Wagner will also be removed from her 9 pm weeknight slot. Wagner has already been working as a correspondent after Rachel Maddow took over hosting duties during President Trump’s first 100 days in office. It’s now expected that Wagner will not return as host, but is expected to stay on as a contributor. Jen Psaki, President Biden’s former White House press secretary, is a likely replacement for Wagner, though a decision has not been finalized. Psaki joined the network in March 2023 and currently hosts shows on Sunday at noon and Monday at 8 pm.
The shake-up comes amid new leadership at the network. Rebecca Kutler, a former CNN senior executive, officially became MSNBC’s new president earlier this year.
