A woman was killed Friday afternoon in a crash with a big rig on Highway 180 west of Fresno.
CHP says the woman later identified as 61-year-oldGretchen Scotia of Fresno was driving a Toyota Camry north on Hayes Avenue and pulled out from the stop sign onto Whitesbridge Avenue into the path of a big rig hauling pistachios.

The driver of the big rig could not avoid the Toyota and crashed into the driver’s side, killing the unidentified woman.
The highway does not have a stop sign and the big rig driver had the right of way.
CHP says Caltrans is on the scene cleaning the load of pistachios that were dumped onto the highway.
The trucker was not injured and stayed at the scene to cooperate.
No drugs or alcohol are suspected.
